Sax Rohmer was a prolific writer of the early 20th century. He is best known for his series of novels featuring the master criminal Fu Manchu. His real name was Arthur Henry Sarsfield Ward, and he wrote under the pseudonym SAX Rohmer. He was born in Birmingham, England in 1883 and died in 1959. He wrote over sixty novels, as well as numerous short stories, plays, and poems. He is credited with popularizing the genre of 'yellow peril' fiction, which featured Asian villains as the antagonists.
