Isabel Allende is a Chilean-American writer who is best known for her novels that explore the experiences of women, magic realism, and the political turmoil of Latin America. She is the author of more than 20 books, including The House of the Spirits, Eva Luna, and City of the Beasts. Allende has been awarded numerous honors, including the National Literature Prize in Chile and the Presidential Medal of Freedom in the United States.
