William Howard Taft was the 27th President of the United States, serving from 1909 to 1913. He was the only person to have served as both President and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Prior to his presidency, he served as Secretary of War under President Theodore Roosevelt. He was also the first president to own a car and the first president to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at a baseball game. His nickname was 'Big Bill' due to his large size.
