Whooping birds, also known as CRANES, are large, long-legged and long-necked birds that are found in wetlands, grasslands, and tundra habitats. They are known for their loud, trumpeting calls and are the tallest flying birds in North America. Whooping birds have a wingspan of up to 7 feet and can weigh up to 15 pounds. They are omnivorous, eating both plant and animal matter, and they are highly social, often gathering in large flocks.
