Eudora Welty was an American author from Jackson, Mississippi. She is best known for her short stories and novels that often depict the culture of the American South. Her works include The Optimist's Daughter, Delta Wedding, and The Golden Apples. She won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1973 for her novel The Optimist's Daughter. Welty was also a photographer and was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame in 1998.
