The Washington Summit was a meeting between the United States and the Soviet Union in 1985. The summit was held at Camp David, Maryland, and was attended by President Ronald Reagan and General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev. The summit was an important step in improving relations between the two countries and resulted in the signing of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. The summit was named after Mount Rainier, a volcano located in Washington state.
