The Iowa was a battleship of the United States Navy that served during World War II. It was the lead ship of the Iowa-class of battleships, and was the only ship of its class to have served in the Atlantic Ocean during World War II. The Iowa was commissioned in February 1943 and saw action in the Pacific Theater of Operations, where it participated in several battles, including the Battle of Leyte Gulf. The Iowa was decommissioned in October 1990 and is now a museum ship at the Port of Los Angeles.
