The Volkswagen Bug, also known as the BEETLE, is a two-door, four-passenger car that was manufactured and marketed by German automaker Volkswagen from 1938 until 2003. It was the first car to be mass-produced using a rear-mounted, air-cooled engine, and it was one of the most recognizable vehicles of the 20th century. The BEETLE was an iconic symbol of the 1960s counterculture movement and was popularized in the 1969 Disney movie, The Love Bug. It was also the best-selling car of all time, with over 21 million units sold worldwide.
