Yehudi Menuhin was a renowned violinist, considered one of the greatest of the 20th century. He was born in New York City in 1916 and began playing the violin at the age of four. He made his debut with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra at the age of seven and went on to become a celebrated soloist, conductor, and teacher. He was also a passionate advocate for music education and the use of music as a tool for peace. He died in 1999 at the age of 82.
