The Vietnam Memorial Designer is Lin, a Chinese-American architect. Lin was born in Taiwan and moved to the United States at the age of 12. She graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture and Environmental Design. Lin's design for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial was chosen from over 1, 400 submissions and was dedicated in 1982. The memorial consists of two walls inscribed with the names of those who died in the Vietnam War. It has become one of the most visited sites in Washington D.C. and is a symbol of national mourning and remembrance.
