The video game manufacturer Sega is a Japanese multinational video game developer and publisher. It was founded in 1940 as Service Games, and changed its name to Sega in 1965. Sega is best known for its arcade games, home video game consoles, and video game franchises such as Sonic the Hedgehog and Total War. Sega has also produced numerous other popular titles, including Virtua Fighter, Phantasy Star, and Yakuza.
