Vice President Spiro Agnew was the Vice President of the United States from 1969 to 1973 under President Richard Nixon. He was the first Greek-American to hold the office and was known for his conservative views. Agnew was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1918 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was elected Governor of Maryland in 1966 and then Vice President in 1968. Agnew resigned from office in 1973 after being charged with tax evasion.
