The Venerable Saint BEDE, also known as Saint BEDE the Venerable, was an English monk and scholar of the early 8th century. He is best known for his work 'Ecclesiastical History of the English People', which is considered to be one of the most important sources of Anglo-Saxon history. He is also known for his writings on theology, philosophy, and science. He is venerated as a saint in both the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches.
