The US playwright James AGEE was an American novelist, poet, screenwriter, and journalist. He is best known for his Pulitzer Prize-winning novel A Death in the Family and his autobiographical screenplay for the film The African Queen. AGEE was born in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1909 and died in 1955. He was a major figure in the Southern literary renaissance of the 1920s and 1930s.
