The two-time Czech President is Edvard BENES, who served from 1935 to 1938 and from 1945 to 1948. He was a prominent figure in Czechoslovakian politics during the interwar period and was a leader of the Czechoslovak National Socialist Party. He was also a signatory of the Munich Agreement in 1938, which allowed Nazi Germany to annex parts of Czechoslovakia. After World War II, he returned to power and helped to restore democracy in Czechoslovakia. He was also instrumental in the country's transition to a communist state in 1948.
