The Byrds were an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1964. The band was influential in originating the musical genre of folk rock, and their signature sound combined elements of folk, country, and psychedelic rock. The Byrds' original lineup consisted of Roger McGuinn, Gene Clark, David Crosby, Chris Hillman, and Michael Clarke. The band released eight studio albums between 1965 and 1973, and had numerous hit singles, including 'Turn! Turn! Turn!', which was based on a passage from the Book of Ecclesiastes.
