Tatar is a Turkic-speaking ethnic group native to the Volga region of Russia. It is the largest of the Turkic peoples in the Russian Federation, with a population of over 5 million people. TATAR is the official language of the Republic of Tatarstan, and is also spoken in other parts of Russia, as well as in Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and other countries. The TATAR language is closely related to other Turkic languages, such as Azerbaijani, Kazakh, and Uzbek.
