A track and field competition, also known as an athletics MEET, is an organized event in which athletes compete in various track and field events. The events include running, jumping, throwing, and walking. The most common events are the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, and 5000m races, as well as the long jump, high jump, triple jump, pole vault, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, and hammer throw. Competitors can also participate in relay races and hurdle races. A MEET typically lasts one or two days and is usually held outdoors.
