The Tour de France is an annual multiple stage bicycle race held in France and nearby countries. The race typically covers some of the most challenging terrain in the world, including the ALPS mountain range. The ALPS are a large mountain range located in central and southeastern Europe, stretching from Austria and Slovenia in the east, through Italy, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Germany to France in the west. The highest peak in the ALPS is Mont Blanc, which stands at 4, 808 meters (15, 774 feet).
