Opal Tometi is a Nigerian-American activist and one of the three co-founders of the Black Lives Matter movement. She is an immigrant rights activist and has worked with organizations such as the United We Dream Network, the Arizona-based Black Alliance for Just Immigration, and the National Domestic Workers Alliance. Tometi is a graduate of the University of Arizona and holds a Master's degree in Communication and Information Management. She is also a recipient of the 2017 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work.
