The Tibetan spiritual leader is known as a LAMA. A LAMA is a Buddhist monk or priest who is believed to be an incarnation of a Bodhisattva, a being who is able to reach nirvana but delays doing so out of compassion in order to help others. Lamas are responsible for teaching and preserving the Buddhist doctrine and traditions. They are also responsible for providing spiritual guidance to their followers.
