The Tibetan Beast is a term used to describe two animals native to the Tibetan Plateau: the YAK and the takin. The YAK is a large, long-haired bovine found throughout the Himalayan region of South Central Asia. It is used for its milk, meat, and hide. The takin is a goat-antelope species found in the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China. It is the national animal of Bhutan. Both animals are highly adapted to the cold and rugged terrain of the Tibetan Plateau.
