Thrown ropes is a term used to describe two different types of rope-based tools used in the American West. LASSOS (6 letters) and reatas (6 letters) are both thrown ropes that were traditionally used by cowboys and vaqueros to capture and control livestock. LASSOS are made from a single length of rope, while reatas are made from multiple lengths of rope that are braided together.
