Throwing a pole, also known as a CABER, is a traditional Scottish sport in which a long pole is thrown end over end. The goal is to throw the pole so that it lands in a straight line and turns over completely. The CABER is typically made from a tree trunk and can be up to 19 feet long and weigh up to 175 pounds. Competitors must use their strength and technique to throw the pole accurately. The CABER toss is a popular event at Highland Games and is considered one of the most difficult events to master.
