Theater Awards refer to awards given to recognize excellence in theater. The two most prominent awards are the Obies and the Tonys. The Obies, or the Obie Awards, are presented annually by The Village Voice newspaper and recognize excellence in Off-Broadway and Off-Off-Broadway theater. The Tonys, or the Tony Awards, are presented annually by the American Theatre Wing and recognize excellence in Broadway theater.
