Theater area is a term used to describe the different sections of a theater. The TIER is the uppermost section of seating, usually in a balcony. The PIT is the area closest to the STAGE, usually without seating. The PARTERRE is the main floor of the theater, where most of the seating is located. The AISLE is the walkway between the rows of seating. The LOGE is a small, private box located on the side of the theater. The STAGE is the area where the performance takes place. The RIALTO is the area in front of the STAGE, usually reserved for the performers. The MEZZANINE is the second level of seating, usually located above the parterre. The ORCHESTRAPIT is the area in front of the STAGE, usually reserved for the orchestra.
