The Wright Brothers' hometown was DAYTON, Ohio. DAYTON is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Montgomery County. It is the sixth-largest city in the state and the county's population was estimated at 140, 640 in 2019. The city was founded on April 1, 1796, by 12 settlers known as the Thompson Party. It was named after Jonathan DAYTON, a captain in the American Revolutionary War. DAYTON is home to the Wright Brothers National Memorial, which commemorates the Wright brothers' invention of the airplane.
