The Whale Constellation, also known as Cetus (5 letters), is a large constellation located in the southern sky. It is one of the 88 modern constellations and was first catalogued by the Greek astronomer Ptolemy in the 2nd century. Cetus is home to several stars and deep-sky objects, including the star Mira, the brightest long-period variable star in the night sky. It is also home to the spiral galaxy Messier 77, which is one of the brightest galaxies in the night sky.
