Alan ALDA is an American actor, director, screenwriter, and author. He is best known for his role as Hawkeye Pierce in the television series M*A*S*H, for which he won five Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award. He also starred in the television series The West Wing, playing the role of Senator Arnold Vinick. ALDA has also appeared in numerous films, including The Seduction of Joe Tynan, Crimes and Misdemeanors, and The Aviator.
