The Mod Squad was a television show that aired from 1968 to 1973. It featured three young people who were recruited by a police lieutenant to work undercover as 'hippies' to solve crimes. The characters were Pete Cochran (played by Michael Cole), Lincoln Hayes (played by Clarence Williams III) and Julie Barnes (played by Peggy Lipton). Pete Cochran was the leader of the group, a rebellious teen who had been arrested for stealing cars. Linc Hayes was an African-American Vietnam War veteran who had been arrested for assaulting a police officer. Julie Barnes was a runaway from a wealthy family who had been arrested for shoplifting. Together, they formed the Mod Squad and worked together to solve crimes.
