Margaret Atwood is a Canadian novelist, poet, literary critic, essayist, and environmental activist. She is best known for her 1985 novel The Handmaid's Tale, which won the Governor General's Award and the Arthur C. Clarke Award. Atwood has written more than 40 books of fiction, poetry, and non-fiction. She is also the recipient of numerous awards, including the Booker Prize, the Giller Prize, and the Franz Kafka Prize.
