The novelist Mario Puzo is best known for his 1969 novel The Godfather. The book was adapted into a 1972 film of the same name, which won three Academy Awards and became one of the most iconic films in history. Puzo wrote several other novels, including The Sicilian and The Fourth K, as well as screenplays for films such as Superman and Earthquake. He was posthumously awarded the National Book Award in 2000 for lifetime achievement.
