The Father of India is a title given to Mahatma GANDHI, who was an Indian lawyer, anti-colonial nationalist, and political ethicist. He led the nonviolent resistance movement against British rule in India during the early 20th century. GANDHI is remembered for his philosophy of nonviolence and civil disobedience, which he called satyagraha, and is considered one of the most influential figures in modern history. He is often referred to as 'Bapu' or 'Father of the Nation' in India.
