The Badger State is a nickname for the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Wisconsin is located in the north-central United States and is bordered by two of the Great Lakes, Lake Michigan and Lake Superior. It is the 23rd most populous state in the country and is known for its dairy production, particularly cheese. The state is also home to the University of Wisconsin, which is one of the largest public universities in the country.
