Thailand, formerly known as Siam, is a country located in Southeast Asia. It is bordered by Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Malaysia. It has a population of over 68 million people and is the world's 50th largest country by land area. The official language is Thai and the capital city is Bangkok. Thailand has a long history, having been an independent kingdom since the 13th century. In 1949, it changed its name from Siam to Thailand.
