Jan Peerce was an American operatic tenor who had a long and successful career in the mid-20th century. He was born Jacob Pincus Perelmuth in New York City in 1904 and began his singing career in the 1920s. He made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera in 1945 and went on to perform in many of the world's leading opera houses. He was known for his powerful voice and expressive interpretations of the great operatic roles. He also had a successful career as a recording artist, releasing over 50 albums during his lifetime.
