Monica Seles is a former professional tennis player from Yugoslavia who is widely considered one of the greatest female players of all time. She won nine Grand Slam singles titles and was the youngest ever French Open champion at the age of 16. Seles was the world's number one ranked player in 1991 and 1992 before being stabbed by a spectator during a match in 1993. She returned to the tour in 1995 and won her last Grand Slam title in 1996.
