Monica Seles is a former professional tennis player who was the world No. 1 in 1991 and 1992. She won nine Grand Slam singles titles, eight of them while a citizen of Yugoslavia and one while a citizen of the United States. Seles is also remembered for her comeback after being stabbed by a spectator during a match in 1993. She is widely regarded as one of the greatest female tennis players of all time.
