Arthur Ashe was an American professional tennis player who won three Grand Slam titles. He was the first African American to win the men's singles title at the US Open in 1968, and he also won the Australian Open in 1970 and Wimbledon in 1975. He was also a social activist and humanitarian, and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1993. Ashe is remembered as one of the greatest players in the history of tennis.
