Galileo Galilei was an Italian astronomer, physicist, engineer, and philosopher who is widely considered to be the pioneer of modern telescope technology. He is credited with inventing the first practical telescope, which he used to observe and study the night sky. His observations led to the discovery of the four largest moons of Jupiter, as well as the phases of Venus, and the rings of Saturn. He also made significant contributions to the fields of physics and mathematics.
