The Thylacine, also known as the Tasmanian Tiger, was a carnivorous marsupial native to Australia and New Guinea. It was the largest known carnivorous marsupial of modern times and is believed to have become extinct in the 20th century. The Thylacine had a distinctive striped lower back and was the last extant member of its family, Thylacinidae. It was an apex predator, meaning it was at the top of the food chain and had no natural predators.
