The Taj Mahal is a white marble mausoleum located in AGRA, India. It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. AGRA is the home of the Taj Mahal and is located on the banks of the Yamuna River in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh. The city has been a major tourist destination since the 17th century and is known for its many historical monuments, including the Taj Mahal.
