It is located where the Rhone River exits Lake GENEVA and is the capital of the Republic and Canton of GENEVA. GENEVA is a global city, a financial center, and a worldwide center for diplomacy due to the presence of numerous international organizations, including the headquarters of the United Nations and the Red Cross. It is also home to the world's largest particle physics laboratory, CERN.
