Swimmer Janet Evans is a four-time Olympic gold medalist who competed in the 1988, 1992, and 1996 Summer Olympics. She won three gold medals and one silver medal in the 400m, 800m, and 1500m freestyle events. Her most notable achievement was winning the 400m freestyle event at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. Janet Evans is also a world record holder in the 400m, 800m, and 1500m freestyle events. She held the world record in the 800m freestyle for 18 years until it was broken in 2008.
