Star Trek: Deep Space NINE is a science fiction television series that aired from 1993 to 1999. It is set in the same universe as the original Star Trek series, but is set on a space station rather than a starship. The show follows the adventures of the crew of Deep Space NINE, a space station located near a stable wormhole on the far reaches of the galaxy. The show was the first Star Trek series to feature a black lead character, Commander Benjamin Sisko.
