The St. Lawrence Explorer was a French explorer named Jacques Cartier, who explored the St. Lawrence River in the 16th century. He was commissioned by King Francis I of France to explore the region and search for a passage to Asia. Cartier made three voyages to the area, during which he mapped the river and claimed the land for France. He also encountered the indigenous people of the area, and brought back stories of their culture and customs.
