Wilma Rudolph was an American sprinter who overcame physical disabilities to become a world-renowned athlete. She was born in 1940 with polio, which left her with a weakened left leg and foot. Despite this, she went on to become the first American woman to win three gold medals in track and field at a single Olympics, achieving this feat at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. She was nicknamed the 'Titaness of Track' for her incredible accomplishments.
