Blotting is the process of pressing a piece of absorbent material onto a surface to soak up liquid. Daubing is the process of applying paint or other substances to a surface with a brush or other tool. Blotching is the process of making irregular spots or marks on a surface. All three of these processes can be used to create a spodge.
