Stan Lee was a comic book writer, editor, publisher, and producer who co-created the iconic Marvel superhero Spider-Man. He was born Stanley Martin Lieber in 1922 in New York City and began his career in 1939 at Timely Comics, which later became Marvel Comics. He wrote under the pen name Stan Lee and is credited with helping to create some of the most beloved characters in the Marvel universe, including the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Thor, and the X-Men. He was inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 1994 and received a National Medal of Arts in 2008. He passed away in 2018 at the age of 95.
