Galileo was a spacecraft launched by NASA in 1989 to study the planet Jupiter and its moons. It was the first spacecraft to orbit Jupiter, and it provided scientists with valuable data about the planet's atmosphere, magnetic field, and moons. Galileo also discovered that Jupiter has rings and that its moon Europa may have an ocean beneath its icy surface. The mission ended in 2003 when the spacecraft was deliberately crashed into Jupiter's atmosphere.
